Vale won`t rush investigation

Port Vale aim to have settled the internal investigation into the row involving manager Jim Gannon and assistant Geoff Horsfield by Monday. The management duo last Friday became involved in what is by now a well-documented argument on the team coach heading to Aldershot. Vale issued a statement on Monday of this week insisting the matter will be dealt with internally, with the club`s board listening to versions of events from both parties as they conduct a thorough evaluation. And a resolution to the matter can be expected by the start of next week. Vice-chairman Peter Jackson told The Sentinel: "We're going through the club's grievance and disciplinary procedure, which includes collecting information from everybody involved. When we've done that we'll consult our lawyers and then decide what to do. "We're remaining open-minded for now because it's too early to pre-judge what will happen. "We started the procedure on Monday and want to complete it in seven days. It's important we deal with this quickly because we don't want this sort of issue hanging around, but we have to do it in a professional manner. We can't compromise the process by rushing it."
