Vale wait on Yates

Defender Adam Yates is an injury doubt for Port Vale as they prepare for the visit of Torquay. The full-back hobbled off the field with a knee injury in the Valiants' 6-0 mauling to Fulham in the Carling Cup and boss Micky Adams will make a late decision on whether to pick the 27-year-old. Winger Doug Loft is the only definite absentee as he suffered two broken ribs and a punctured lung during Vale's 1-1 league draw with Chesterfield. Adams has demanded his side bounce back from the disappointing result against the Cottagers. He told the Staffordshire Sentinel: "I'm disappointed with the players both individually and collectively and I think we could have played better. But let's put it into perspective. This Fulham team drew 2-2 with Manchester United on Sunday and we now face Torquay. "Torquay are a good side at our level, but they are not a Fulham because their movement and everything else is not going to be of the same standard."
