Vale virus threatens matchday squad
Top scorer Marc Richards, captain Tommy Fraser, defenders Lee Collins, Kris Taylor and John McCombe and midfielder Ross Davidson have been worse affected and have all missed sessions.
Manager Micky Adams, however, expects everyone to be okay in time for the visit of the Robins, who have been suffering with problems of their own this week having put boss Martin Allen on gardening leave.
Midfielder Fraser is also struggling with a groin problem that was expected to keep him out until the end of the month but he could be in with an outside chance of playing a part.
Striker Geoff Horsfield (groin) and midfielder Doug Loft (calf) will definitely miss out.
