Vale ready for double header

Port Vale boss Micky Adams will try to give his whole squad a run-out on Saturday and Sunday when they step up their pre-season campaign at Harborough Town and Biddulph Victoria. Trialists Gary Roberts and Ritchie Sutton should feature at some point, but Lewis Haldane will miss out due to a swollen ankle which may have been caused by an insect bite and Adam Yates is doubtful with a sore knee. Adams told the Stoke Sentinel: "We'll take a squad of 22 players to each game and everybody will get 45 minutes. "But I don't want anybody reading anything into my team selection - I'll just pick two teams and the players who start Saturday will be subs on Sunday. "We'll use the games as a fitness exercise and we're not too worried about results."
