Vale lose their Loft

Port Vale midfielder Doug Loft will miss the remainder of the season due to injury. Loft sustained what he thought was a knee injury during last Saturday's 1-1 draw with Southend and subsequently went for a scan on Monday, but those results have highlighted a ruptured hamstring. That means Vale's worst fears have been realised, with Loft now facing at least six weeks on the sidelines and no further part in the club's promotion bid. Loft is out of contract at Vale Park in the summer but has recently been offered a new two-year deal, which still remains on offer with the 24-year-old expected to make a full recovery. The Valiants currently sit ninth in League Two, three points off seventh-placed Gillingham with five matches remaining.
