Vale keen to extend Adams deal

Adams was appointed Vale boss at the start of June but only signed a contract on Friday, yet Bratt is already looking at a possible two-year extension after seeing him guide the League Two outfit to just one defeat in their opening five league games and take the Carling Cup scalps of Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday. Bratt told The Sentinel: "I'd like Micky here for a minimum three years, personally, because he's already proved what he can do. "He's brought discipline to the side and that ability not to easily lose, which is different to last season. The board have talked about a contract extension and hopefully we can sort that out with Micky some time in the next couple of weeks. There is quite a lot of talking to do." Adams himself added: "There was never any problem with the contract - my word was my bond. The chairman has intimated to me he would like to talk about extending my contract. I would like to stay longer but that is up to me and the chairman to discuss." Meanwhile, with Adams looking to bring a couple of players in before Tuesday's transfer deadline, Vale midfielder Danny Edwards has agreed a one-month loan deal with Blue Square Premier side Altrincham.
