Vale held by Cheshire-based Town
Vale took the lead after 37 minutes when Danny Glover outpaced defender Wayne Brotherton to slot the ball tidily past keeper Matt Conkie.
Guy came on in the second half and had two good chances but it was the hosts who found the net through a Danny Griggs chip.
Alex Melbourne, recently released from Wolves, also made a second half debut for Micky Adams' side.
