Vale chairman to take his time
Glover was relieved of his duties after a season in which he faced protest from fans over his tenure and Bratt admits he will not rush into a new appointment.
"We are compiling a list of people we would want and then we'll approach those people and see what the situation is," he said.
"There are about half a dozen names which have already been put in the frame but you've got to make a decent list because you never know who is going to become unavailable. Dave Penney was on the list but he's already gone. John Ward is another one on the list.
"I don't think we'll make an in-house appointment. We've done that the last few times and it hasn't worked so we need a change.
"Brian Horton is a long shot as I'm not sure he'd come back actually. I don't think Brian and myself got on too well though I've no animosity against him."
