Ref says sorry for penalty error

Sarginson gave the away side a penalty when he adjudged Gareth Owen to have fouled Clayton Donaldson in the box.

And that decision proved decisive as Shaun Miller netted the resulting spot-kick to put a dent in Vale's play-off hopes.

But following a conversation with Sarginson on Monday morning, Adams told the club's official website: "We have spoken on the phone and the referee has apologised for his mistake.

"He told me he made a mistake and it was a genuine mistake, but obviously it doesn't change anything at all, it is all done with now."
