Lines banned for Rovers clash

Port Vale will be without the suspended Chris Lines against Tranmere.

Lines received his 10th yellow card of the season during the 2-2 draw with Coventry last weekend and the midfielder must now serve a two-match ban.

The only player unavailable through injury is defender Liam Chilvers who is recovering from a groin operation.

With Lines absent one change is forced upon Micky Adams, but the Vale manager has plenty of options should he wish to make any more. The likes of Dan Jones, Chris Robertson, Louis Dodds, Gavin Tomlin, Anthony Griffith and Chris Birchall are all vying for recalls.

Tranmere are likely to be without three of their regular midfielders.

Steve Jennings, whose incredible winner gave Rovers' safety hopes a much-needed shot in the arm against Notts County last weekend, has a knee problem and the swelling is unlikely to subside in time.

He looks set to be joined on the sidelines by former Wales international Jason Koumas, who was forced off against the Magpies just after half-time with a foot injury. Captain James Wallace also had to be withdrawn in the first period because of a groin strain and neither player looks set to return this weekend.

Stand-in manager John McMahon is also missing Abdulai Baggie, whose knee problem could force him to miss the rest of the campaign.
