Vale duo pushing for starts

Colin Daniel and Byron Moore are pushing for starting places for Port Vale ahead of the visit of Cardiff in the Capital One Cup.

Vale lost at home to Notts County on Saturday and manager Micky Adams was critical of his side's first-half performance, but the Valiants' improvement after the break coincided with the introduction from the bench of Daniel and Moore.

It therefore seems unlikely that Adams will name an unchanged starting line-up for the fourth successive match.

The likes of Chris Robertson, Louis Dodds, Michael Brown and Steven Jennings are also options for Adams.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks set to hand Federico Macheda his full Cardiff debut when they make the trip.

The former Manchester United striker, who arrived in south Wales this summer, missed their opening matches of the season through injury but is now ready to make his first start for his new employers.

Macheda linked up well with Javi Guerra during pre-season and the pair could get the chance to impress from the outset as Solskjaer looks set to ring the changes after Saturday's 1-0 loss to Wolves.

Youngster Jazzi Barnum-Bobb, who made his debut in the previous round against Coventry, will hope to start again along with the likes of Simon Moore, Declan John and Joe Ralls, man of the match against the Sky Blues.
