Griffith eyes second Vale debut

Anthony Griffith could be in line for his second Port Vale debut when they play host to play-off hopefuls Bradford.

The 26-year-old midfielder left Vale in the summer to sign for Leyton Orient but has re-joined the club on loan until the end of the season.

The former Doncaster man made over 160 appearances for the club in a four-year spell and goes straight into the squad to face the Bantams.

Manager Micky Adams is expected to shuffle his pack further after suffering back-to-back league defeats for the first time this season.

Midfielder Sam Morsy and strikers Lee Hughes and Louis Dodds all came off the bench during Saturday's 2-1 loss to Oxford and are pushing for a starting role.

Bradford striker Nahki Wells is doubtful for the game after sustaining a dead-leg at the weekend.

Wells was forced off 10 minutes into the second half of Bradford's derby win at York on Saturday and could miss out with a view to returning to contention for Saturday's home game with Aldershot.

Garry Thompson replaced Wells at the weekend and went on to score the Bantams' second goal, but Alan Connell and Andy Gray are also pushing for recalls.

Manager Phil Parkinson has no other new injury or suspension problems, but hinted he may make several changes as he utilises his squad to the full.

Goalkeeper Matt Duke is hoping to return after being named among the substitutes at York following suspension, while defender Rory McArdle, winger Zavon Hines and midfielder Nathan Doyle are all likely to be included in Parkinson's plans after starting on the bench on Saturday.

James Meredith is making good progress as he overcomes the after-effects of glandular fever and fellow defender Luke Oliver (Achilles) is out for the rest of the season.
