Vale rejoice in Pope's winner

Tom Pope headed a dramatic winner in stoppage time to give Vale a second successive victory and a 3-2 success over enterprising Bradford.

Vale went ahead in the fifth minute when Luke Moore lost possession to Mike Green and Taylor latched onto the loose ball to clatter a spectacular 25-yard shot high inside Matt Duke's left-hand post.

Ben Williamson and Pope also went close during Vale's early bombardment before Bradford stemmed the tide and began to hit back.

They equalised in the 24th minute when Moore and Kyel Reid combined to tee up Jamie Levitt to drive a 20-yard shot which bounced in off the underside of the bar.

Bradford centre-back Guy Branston wasn't as fortunate three minutes later when his thumping header from Chris Mitchell's corner struck the bar via Chris Martin's fingertips and rebounded to safety.

The contest was wide open and Vale regained the lead in bizarre style six minutes before the break when Taylor's lob into the box deceived Duke and dropped into the corner of the net.

But Bradford were level again five minutes after the interval with Devitt this time the provider with a pass for Ritchie Jones to strike low inside Martin's right-hand post from 18 yards.

The visitors were in the ascendancy for much of the rest of a highly entertaining contest, but Pope settled it when he buried a towering header from eight yards after a terrific cross from substitute Doug Loft.
