Vale cruise past Bees

Jennison Myrie-Williams scored on his debut for Port Vale in a comfortable 3-0 win over Barnet.

Louis Dodds volleyed Vale ahead in the eighth minute before former Stevenage winger Myrie-Williams stroked home a 20th minute penalty, awarded when Tom Pope was fouled by Jon Nurse.

Pope should have scored a third soon after, but curled wide after being set up by Dodds, who also steered the wrong side of the post after Bees keeper Liam O'Brien was caught off his line.

Dodds was looking for his second when he flashed an effort across the face of goal after the break.

The Bees failed to trouble Vale keeper Chris Neal in new boss Mark Robson's first game in charge. Jon Nurse went closest for the Londoners when he fired a first-half effort into the side-netting.

But the Valiants weren't flattered by their third goal which Pope side-footed into the far corner after he was neatly set up by substitute Ben Williamson in the 75th minute.

Then O'Brien was off his line smartly to deny Pope a second as Vale finished strongly.
