Jamie Proctor marks Bradford debut with equaliser against Port Vale

Jamie Proctor marked his debut on loan from Fleetwood with a second-half equaliser to earn 10-man Bradford a battling 1-1 draw at Port Vale.

Vale got off to the best possible start when Ajay Leitch-Smith netted his eighth goal in 13 games in the second minute.

The striker got in behind the Bradford defence to control Anthony Grant's pass and slide a right-footed shot under the advancing Ben Williams from eight yards.

Leitch-Smith should have added a second in the 10th minute after more ropey defending from the visitors who made a very sloppy start to the contest.

Bradford finally woke from their slumber as half-time approached without seriously troubling home keeper Jak Alnwick.

The visitors' hopes of a comeback were then dented in the 49th minute when midfielder Lee Evans was sent off for a late and high challenge on Grant.

But they equalised out of the blue when a terrific cross from the right by former Vale winger Mark Marshall was headed high into the centre of the goal by Proctor from six yards.

The goal encouraged Bradford as Alnwick saved well from Reece Burke after more good work by Marshall on the right.

And the visitors soaked up late pressure from Vale in comfort to secure a share of the spoils.
