Port Vale 0-0 Barnet: Match Report

25 January 2011 22:34
Bees extend run to four games Improving Barnet stretched their unbeaten run to four games as early-season leaders Port Vale again failed to inspire under new manager Jim Gannon in a goalless draw. Barnet had appeared content to sit behind the ball in the first period, with Izale McLeod an isolated and frustrated figure in attack. Vale attempted to increase the tempo at the start of the second half as their fans finally started to get behind their cause. However, it was Barnet who finally landed the game's first attempt on target when McLeod's tame shot was easily collected by home goalkeeper Stuart Tomlinson in the 64th minute. Vale wasted their second gilt-edged opportunity four minutes later as substitute Kayleden Brown lost his footing after Lewis Haldane's shot was parried into his path by Liam O'Brien. And an even easier chance went begging in the final minute when Rob Taylor scooped his shot high into the air from virtually on the goal-line.
