Owen worry for Vale

30 August 2010 14:30
Port Vale have a doubt over defender Gareth Owen ahead of their Johnstone's Paint Trophy first round tie against Rochdale. Owen had to be withdrawn just 28 minutes into Saturday's npower League One defeat to Torquay after suffering a cut and bruising around his eye. The former Oldham and Stockport man will be assessed ahead of Dale's visit to Vale Park and should he be ruled out, Adam Yates could come in to the starting line-up. Yates was a doubt for the clash against the Gulls at the weekend due to a knee problem, but he was named on the bench and came on to replace Owen. Winger Doug Loft will not feature as he has two broken ribs and a punctured lung. Midfield duo Abdulai Bell-Baggie and Tommy Fraser are pushing for a place in Micky Adams' starting line-up.
