Owen on comeback trail for Vale

The influential centre-back has made a speedy recovery having partially torn ankle ligaments during the defeat to Dagenham back on March 10.

He was not expected to return to action until later this month and possibly play a part in the end of season run-in. However, he navigated the opening 45 minutes of Vale's 3-2 defeat against Rangers before returning to training on Thursday morning.

He could now possibly force his way into the reckoning for Saturday's trip to Rochdale although boss Dean Glover may be tempted to hold him back until Easter Monday.

Kyle Perry, fresh from his loan spell at Northwich, Steve Thompson, Danny Glover, Simon Richman and Anthony Griffith all started at Marston Road, with Glover and Danny Edwards grabbing the goals.
