Owen joy at home comforts

Gareth Owen has spoken of his delight after helping Port Vale register their first home win of the season. The Valiants have made a stunning start to the season on their travels with three wins from three but were still waiting for their first taste of success on home soil ahead of Saturday's clash against Aldershot. But all that changed thanks to Gary Roberts' strike which secured a 1-0 triumph and left Micky Adams' charges level on points with leaders Torquay. Centre-back Owen told Valiants Player: "No-one really knows the reason for it. We have been preparing in exactly the same way. I think more emphasis has been put on our home form as our away form has been so good. "It was good to get that monkey off our backs. We did make hard work of it in the second half but any win is a good win and it keeps our momentum going. "We are not counting any chickens because there is still a long way to go. We move on to our next opponents and we know it is going to be a tough game against Macclesfield next week. Hopefully we can keep that run going - confidence is sky high at the moment."
