Owen concern for Vale

Gareth Owen is doubtful for Port Vale`s eagerly-anticipated trip to runaway leaders Chesterfield. The centre-back hobbled out of Tuesday`s 2-1 win over Lincoln early on with a recurrence of his hamstring injury - a problem which made his involvement in the encounter touch and go in the first place. Should he not make it, Lee Collins will likely switch across from left-back with Kris Taylor duly stepping in to fill the void as he did against the Imps. Sean Rigg returns into contention having served his three-match suspension, but midfielder Dominic Blizzard remains sidelined due to injury while the versatile Exodus Geohaghon is still to feature amid an investigation into his claims of racial abuse by Vale fans at Accrington. Striker Justin Richards pushed his claims for involvement by bagging a winning brace for Vale`s reserves on Wednesday in front of caretaker boss Mark Grew.
