The average age of Vale's starting line-up was under 22 when they lost 2-0 to Brentford on Saturday - their sixth defeat in 10 League Two games.[LNB]However, Owen, 26, insists inexperience is not an excuse after winning promotion from League Two with Stockport last season.[LNB]"You do need a balance of experience and youth, but that also comes with the younger players stepping up to the plate," he told the Sentinel. "There is no other way around it."[LNB]"Stockport and Hereford went up last year and they had young lads playing for them.[LNB]"We can't just say we need a team of[LNB]30-year-olds in the squad and that will achieve success. Whoever plays in the team, we need plenty of legs and we need to be more organised."[LNB][LNB]
