Morsy vows to repay Gannon`s trust

Port Vale youngster Sam Morsy has vowed to repay departed manager Jim Gannon's trust in him by claiming a regular starting position under new boss Mark Grew. The midfielder, who had made just two first team appearances for the Valiants before Gannon's arrival, was handed seven starts and two substitute appearances during the 42-year-old's ill-fated 75-day reign. "Jim Gannon showed confidence in me and helped me improve my game," Morsy told The Sentinel. "He brought me into the team - and there was no pressure on him to do that. "He's taken some unfair criticism. He's a very intelligent man, but it didn't happen for him here. "Now it's up to me to keep my place and work hard under the new management team."
