Port Vale`s play-off hopes have been dealt a blow after on-loan striker Tom Pope was recalled by promotion rivals Rotherham. Pope, a lifelong Vale fan, had recently extended his stay in Burslem into a third month having scored three goals in 13 appearances since late January. But the Millers, one point and one place behind Vale in 10th, have now opted to recall the frontman to the Don Valley Stadium for the remaining six matches of the campaign. Vale caretaker manager Mark Grew told the club`s official website: "We are bitterly disappointed to lose Tom but there`s nothing I can do. "I know he will be sorry to leave us and we thank him for his contribution."
