The 24-year-old made 29 successive starts before he was sent off in the 1-1 draw at Northampton on December 12. He has since been left out of the first-team frame after manager Micky Adams chose to switch from playing three centre-halves to deploying a back four.[LNB]Vale remain unbeaten in five games, including three wins and two draws, and have conceded just two goals since switching systems.[LNB]"It's a bit of a setback because I want to be playing every game - and I was doing that before I was sent off," McCombe told The Sentinel.[LNB]"I'm disappointed not to be playing, but there's nothing I can do about it because the gaffer's gone to 4-4-2.[LNB]"These things happen in football.
