McCombe banned against Mariners
McCombe should have served his one-match ban a week ago, but both of Vale's last two games have fallen foul to the wintry conditions, so the centre-half sees his ban carry over to the Grimsby clash.[LNB]The enforced break has offered some benefits to boss Micky Adams, though, as Louis Dodds has now fully recovered from a knee injury and is in contention for the game.[LNB]Sean Rigg will attempt to make his comeback from a ban that ended after Vale's 1-1 draw at Northampton on December 12, while veteran Geoff Horsfield will be out well into the new year with a hamstring problem.[LNB]Vale will be glad that their return to action comes with an away trip as Adams' men have remained unbeaten in their last six games on the road.[LNB][LNB]
