Martin is Vale future - Adams

Martin had been an ever-present between the sticks for Vale since Joe Anyon broke his leg last March, even restricting Anyon to a substitutes' role upon his return to full fitness.[LNB]But a run of three defeats in four games convinced Adams to freshen things up for Tuesday's 4-0 romp over Lincoln, although the Vale boss is adamant 19-year-old Martin has a role to play at the club.[LNB]"We're pleased for Joe because he's had his problems," said Adams in The Sentinel. "He's been unlucky this season because we've had a fantastic young keeper come through the ranks and his recall was no slight on Chris.[LNB]"But when you concede goals you have to look at everything and that's no criticism of him. We've looked slightly nervous at home recently so I wanted to freshen it up. But we think a lot of Chris and he'll be the future of the club."[LNB]Both keepers are out of contract in the summer but Adams has already stressed his desire to offer Martin new terms.[LNB][LNB]
