Home comforts for Adams

Port Vale boss Micky Adams was pleased to see his side register their first home league win of the season against Aldershot. Vale made a strong and confident start and their supremacy was rewarded when Gary Roberts netted the decider in the 10th minute. "Some people had made a lot of the fact we had not won at home in the league, but we had only played here twice and there wasn't an issue in my mind. We hadn't mentioned it in the dressing room and just got on with preparing for a game of football," said Adams. "The players worked very hard again and I thought we deserved the three points. We played well in the first-half when we coped with their system and they didn't cause us many problems. "We played too many long balls in the second-half and did some strange things, but we defended resolutely. We've scrambled a 1-0 result against a good Aldershot side and I'll take that. "The fans will certainly go home happy. They have been long suffering fans and I'm sure they will be very pleased to see their team near the top of the league."
