Grew rues missed chance

Caretaker boss Mark Grew was frustrated after watching Port Vale miss a glut of chances in their 0-0 draw with 10-man Bury. Vale dominated for large periods but were left rueing poor finishing as the Shakers, who had Steven Schumacher sent off in the 76th minute, claimed a share of the spoils. "If the players keep putting that much effort in we will win more games than we lose, that's for certain," he said. "It was a very frustrating day. We hit the woodwork three times and there were some expletives not fit for print being shouted in our dugout. "We created some excellent chances and should have put some of them away. Sometimes that is the way it goes. "But the performance was very pleasing. The players looked tense against Hereford last Tuesday but they were a lot more relaxed here."
