Glover: Don't expect too much

The 45-year-old was told three weeks ago that his services were no longer required after just seven months at the helm. Vale have drawn up a managerial shortlist and are expected to make an appointment in the next couple of days, with former Brighton manager Micky Adams and ex-Carlisle boss John Ward rumoured to be the leading contenders for the position. Glover told The Sentinel: "It has been hard. We didn't have a lot of money to play with, had an inherited squad and would have liked longer to turn it around. "The new man will be inheriting 14 players there and maybe 17 if the other lads sign their contracts. "I had a budget to deal with and felt I did that well. It won't be a quick fix but in a year's time everyone's contracts will start afresh. There won't be a massive turnaround because too many are under contract."
