Gannon lands O`Shea
James O`Shea has become Jim Gannon`s first signing as manager of Port Vale having penned a one-month loan deal from Birmingham.
The promising 22-year-old is a versatile forward who can play out wide or up front and has recently returned from a two-month stint with League Two rivals Stevenage.
O`Shea, a Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, signed for Birmingham from Galway in August 2009 and has so far made three first-team appearances for the Premier League club, including a debut against Manchester United at Old Trafford at the start of last season.
Gannon is no stranger to O`Shea`s talents, telling Vale`s official website: "I have tracked the progress of James` career carefully having previously tried to sign him when I was manager at Motherwell and he was at Galway.
"Unfortunately on that occasion he went to Birmingham but I am delighted we have managed to sign him on loan now for Port Vale. He is a player with creative flair who can bring a real attacking dimension to the team and I am certain he will complement our squad here and work well with our existing players."
O`Shea will be included in Gannon`s squad for Saturday`s home clash against Cheltenham.
