Doubts over Vale starting XI

28 September 2009 15:40
Manager Micky Adams placed the entire Vale squad on the transfer list after Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Notts County having been furious with the manner in which his side rolled over. Although unlikely, it remains to be seen whether any players will be disposed of before Tuesday's visit of cash-strapped Stanley, leaving Adams himself somewhat uncertain of the team he will be in a position to name. One player that will not be involved however is the versatile Damien McCrory after his return to Plymouth following the end of his month-long loan spell at Vale Park. Centre-back Gareth Owen should be okay despite coming off at Meadow Lane midway through the second half with a head injury which required stitches, while Doug Loft remains a doubt having missed out against County due to a freak accident which led to a gashed heel. Goalkeeper Joe Anyon returned to the bench at the weekend after spending six months out nursing a broken leg and he should again be involved, while striker James Lawrie may return this time around having had his appendix removed. Geoff Horsfield (groin) remains sidelined.
