New chief executive Perry Deakin has hailed Port Vale`s potential and pointed to his commercial impact at Birmingham and Wolves as a model of success at the League Two club. Deakin, who is currently employed by Northants County Cricket Club, was unveiled on Wednesday and will begin his new role at Vale Park next Monday, overseeing all business operations. "The potential is there and I am very excited to be handed this opportunity," he told Vale`s official website. "At Wolves we had two consecutive record years commercially, which I was obviously delighted about. At Birmingham, the four years in the Premier League again were consecutive record years commercially, and in the one year back in the Championship we actually generated more revenue than in our first year in the Premier League. "It was almost constant success to be honest and that is something I will be tapping into and I will definitely be bringing some of those ideas here." Deakin, who rejected "two or three" other opportunities, added: "I just felt the potential (at Port Vale) was huge to drive the club onwards, not just in terms of the business operation but in every aspect of the club."
