Port Vale have appointed Perry Deakin as the club's new chief executive. Deakin has a wealth of football industry experience having spent two seasons at Wolves restructuring their commercial operation and five years at Birmingham where, among other roles, he served as acting chief executive for a lengthy period. His most recent position was deputy chief executive at Northants County Cricket Club - a role he leaves to join the Valients. Vale chairman Bill Bratt told the club's official website: "Perry has an excellent understanding of the football industry, especially the commercial aspects, and I am delighted he has agreed to take up the role as chief executive. "This is a very important period in the history of Port Vale and I am certain that Perry's expertise will stand us in good stead as we plan for next season and beyond."
