Ban blow for Roberts

Port Vale midfielder Gary Roberts will serve a three-match ban after being sent off in a reserve game. Roberts was shown a straight red card for violent conduct in the 4-3 win over Nottingham Forest's reserves on Tuesday. The suspension will take effect 14 days after the offence so he will be available for Vale's next two League Two matches against Northampton this Saturday and Bradford the following Friday. However, Roberts will miss the games against Stevenage, Aldershot and Macclesfield. Roberts has been a regular starter for the Valiants this season, making 31 appearances and scoring two goals.
