Adams to wield axe

Boss Micky Adams has promised to make changes for Port Vale`s home clash against Gillingham having accused his side of failing to cope with the pressure of being top of the table. Adams watched on at Edgar Street last weekend as Vale had to come from behind to draw 1-1 with bottom-side Hereford, who played for over an hour with only 10 men, leaving the Burslem outfit winless in two league games along with their exit from the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy. Captain Tommy Fraser, Chris Martin, Kris Taylor, Ritchie Sutton, Doug Loft and Rob Taylor all featured for the reserves in midweek and one or two could well have played their way into Adams` thoughts. On-loan winger Jemal Johnson has overcome the ankle and calf injuries which forced him off against the Bulls last Saturday on his full league debut for the club. Lewis Haldane continues his lengthy recovery programme and, having not featured for the second string on Tuesday night, is not ready for any involvement yet.
