Port Vale manager Micky Adams was beaming after Gary Roberts' stunning strike sank Shrewsbury. The midfielder cracked home an unstoppable 25-yard effort 18 minutes from time to clinch a 1-0 win and send Vale four points clear at the top of League Two. Adams said: "It was a tight game and I was thinking a goal would either come from a set-piece or a bit of brilliance. It was nice to see that bit of brilliance come from one of our players. "Gary Roberts is a very talented lad who has got that capability in his locker. As soon as the ball left his boot everyone knew it was in the net."
