Adams revels in clinical display

Port Vale boss Micky Adams hailed a "professional performance" from his side as they breezed past Dartford in their FA Cup first-round replay. A double from Marc Richards and second-half goals from Sean Rigg and Justin Richards made light work of the non-league outfit as Vale secured a 4-0 win to set up a second-round tie with Accrington. Adams said: "It was a professional performance by the team and a job well done. We got after Dartford straight from the off and we chose to play with two wingers to get some crosses into the box and we managed to achieve that. "It was nice to score early and that gave us the platform for a comfortable win. The way we knocked the ball around and made them work very hard was a big factor. "But congratulations to Dartford, who have been a credit to themselves and to their league. They gave us a fantastic game down there and that was their chance. In many ways we were lucky to get a second bite at the cherry, but we managed that and now we've gone through. "We now face Accrington at home with the carrot of maybe playing one of the big boys in the third round. We beat them in the league here but I saw enough to know they are a good side and we will treat them with every respect."
