Adams relieved after Vale victory

The result was Vale's first league win of the season and came thanks to Richards goal in the 29th minute. Adams said: "It's good to put three points on the board. I don't think we played our best football, but the result matters enormously. "Thank God they missed the penalty because I don't think our fans would have settled for 1-1. I was happy enough for most of the first-half and we missed four very decent chances to score. "But Darlington put us under the cosh for the last 15 minutes and they were dangerous times for us. We have to learn to keep the ball better than we are doing, but that is something we can work on and I'm confident it will come."
