Vale manager Micky Adams hailed his side as "fantastic" following their 3-1 win over Championship side QPR at Loftus Road in the first round of the Carling Cup. Two goals from Vale striker Justin Richards and one from Sean Rigg ensured a big shock in soggy west London and although R's substitute Antonio German's angled drive went in off both posts with half an hour remaining, Vale held out for a famous win. Adams said: "We were fantastic and totally deserved the victory. We changed the system and it worked really well. "We had some good possession and scored some good goals, so I'm delighted. "I don't know if we've turned any heads because with this squad of players they have the belief that they're as good as anybody."
