Adams keen to bash the bookies

Vale are not expected to challenge next term, but Adams does not necessarily view this as a negative. "The bookies are never too far away, but there have been occasions when they have had their backsides smacked. And, of course, you can use it as motivation," he told The Sentinel. "Nobody rates us, which is not a bad thing, but you'll never see me shouting from the rooftops, I go about my business quietly." Adams is also keen to keep any expectations under control, adding: "It's a long campaign and people wouldn't believe the highs and lows you can experience in one season. "What a manager has to do is manage expectations and keep everything on a level scheme of things so those highs and lows don't detract from what we are trying to achieve."
