Port Vale manager Micky Adams has praised defender Ritchie Sutton for his hard work in trying to earn a new deal. Sutton's short-term contract runs out on January 17 after joining Vale in the summer from Nantwich Town and Adams was first to applaud the centre-half's work ethic. "Ritchie is getting there. Everything is positive as far as he is concerned. Ritchie's getting fitter, he has lost something like a stone in weight since he arrived" he told This is Staffordshire. Adams was also pleased with Sutton's full senior debut in the 0-0 draw with Gillingham. "Considering it was his full league debut on Saturday I thought his performance was great. If you look at his game he has all the attributes to be a decent defender" he added.
