The 47-year-old, who parted company with the Seagulls in February, takes over from Dean Glover at the Valiants after he left towards the end of last season. Adams becomes Vale's fourth manager within 21 months after he beat off competition from former Cheltenham boss John Ward to the vacancy. He said: "I am delighted to be here. It's a challenge I am looking forward to and hopefully we can restore the fortunes of this wonderful club." Chairman Bill Bratt added: "Micky is one of the best managers we could have got. He is hard-working, enthusiastic and has great vision. "He is the most high-profile manager we have had in the past 30 years and I am sure he can take us forward."
