Franciszek Smuda has confirmed he will be standing aside as Poland head coach following their exit from Euro 2012.
The co-hosts finished bottom of Group A following their 1-0 loss to the Czech Republic in Wroclaw on Saturday, with Petr Jiracek's second-half goal the difference between the two sides. Smuda's contract expires after the championship but he will not be seeking a renewal.
"When it comes to a dismissal, I don't really have to give up my position because I only had a contract up until this competition," he said. "It wasn't perfect, it wasn't as good as we could have imagined but this is football, this is how it works."
He added: "When the contract expires, I had an oral agreement with the Polish FA president so I know what's going to happen.
"For this two and a half years we have really created a team that we can count on in the future. Maybe we can improve in the future."
Czech coach Michal Bilek admitted he knew what was unfolding between Greece and Russia in Warsaw but revealed he told his players at half-time not to panic - despite the fact they were staring at an early exit.
"We knew that Greece had scored a goal and told the players to be patient and to be attentive at the back," he said.
"There were situations that weren't 100% but we could counter-attack because they opened their defence and one of the breaks brought the goal so we are very happy."
The result is particularly pleasing for Bilek after seeing his side bounce back from their 4-1 horror show against Russia with impressive victories over Greece and Poland to finish top of Group A.
"We are really, really very satisfied because we beat a team that were playing at home," added Bilek. "They had played two fantastic matches prior to tonight and were favourites coming into this match."
