Plymouth Argyle manager Paul Sturrock is on the verge of completing the capture of QPR midfielder Simon Walton.
The 20-year-old, who has agreed personal terms with the Pilgrims, will move to Home Park in a £750,000 deal.
Sturrock hopes to sign at least three more players before the transfer window closes at the end of the month, admitting to the Evening Herald: "Yes, you could probably say we're starting the season light on numbers.
"It would be quite easy to panic at this juncture, with the deadline less than four weeks away, but I'd rather have a long-term thought process to signings than short-term.
"I've got several targets out there and I'm just looking to see if I can catch them now.
"I'd like to think we'll have three or four more players come into the football club by the end of the window."
