Sturrock snaps up Gallagher

Plymouth Argyle boss Paul Sturrock has ended his search for a new forward by snapping up the Blackburn Rovers striker Paul Gallagher on an emergency loan deal.

The 24-year-old Scot will seal a season-long loan switch to Home Park on Monday.

Sturrock, who earlier in the week had spoken of his frustration at the lack of new arrivals at the club this summer, told the Pilgrims' official website: "He's a six-footer and gives us a range of attacking options and he has the advantage that he can play in a variety of forward positions.

"He scored 12 goals and was leading scorer for Stoke when he played for them a couple of seasons ago, and has Premiership experience and has played in Europe for Blackburn.

"He's still only just 24 and I'm very much looking forward to getting down to working with him."

Gallagher has scored eight goals in 26 starts and 48 substitute appearances for Rovers and has also enjoyed loan spells with Stoke and Preston North End in the last three seasons.
