Plymouth Argyle boss Paul Sturrock was full of praise for his players after they secured a 2-0 victory at one of his former clubs, Southampton.

Goals from Peter Halmosi and Jim Paterson secured the points for the Pilgrims, who are now just two points outside of the play-off places in the Championship.

Sturrock said: "I have a lot of happy memories at the club and I left for reasons that I don't want to go into now.

"My team might be unfashionable, but we are just outside the play-offs.

"Sometimes you look at players and ask yourself would you like to go in the trenches with them?

"I look at my players and they are exactly the sort of people you would want on your side in the trenches."
