Plymouth await Lowry decision

Plymouth Argyle are still waiting to find out if Shane Lowry's loan from Aston Villa will be extended in the New Year.

The 20-year-old is expected to enter discussions with Villa manager Martin O'Neill and Pilgrims boss Paul Mariner has made it clear he wants the youngster to return.

However, Lowry was involved in a heated argument with the club's fans after the 1-0 weekend defeat against Coventry City at Home Park, but he insists this will have no bearing on making a return.

Speaking to Herald Sport, he said: "It hasn't changed my mind about anything. I was a bit disappointed about it at the time, but these things happen.

"Everyone else at the club has been very supportive of me.

"I don't think it's any secret Plymouth would like to extend my loan. I have had a word with the gaffer (Mariner) and he wants me to stay.

"I put my views across to him as well but, at the end of the day, it's between Plymouth and Villa. It's not down to me."
