Pilgrims suffer captain blow
26 Nov 2008 - 10:29:25
Plymouth Argyle captain Karl Duguid is unlikely to play until after Christmas because of a calf injury.
Pilgrims boss Paul Sturrock is set to enter the loan market to find a replacement for the 30-year-old midfielder, who is expected to be sidelined for up to six weeks.
Sturrock told Argyle's official website: "Losing Duguid will be a blow because he's the captain of the team.
"He's shown an amazing standard of performance for not playing very often in the centre of midfield, so we're going to miss him.
"I'll have to talk to the chairman (Paul Stapleton) and the board about it all, but, in the end, we can't leave ourselves short over six weeks. We're over-budget - it's plain, simple and easy.
"So we'll have to get on the prayer mat and see how that works on the chairman. I'd like to put two or three other players out on loan and balance the books.
"But it's going to be difficult to do that in a two-day span unless somebody phones me up."
