Plymouth Argyle have snapped up Australian defender Shane Lowry on a three-month loan deal from Aston Villa.
The 20-year-old has featured twice in the Villa first team as a substitute this season, playing in both legs of the Europa League tie with Rapid Vienna.
Argyle boss Paul Sturrock told the club's official website: "Defensively, we're very short and we need to make sure we have players coming in.
"He's got real potential and he wants to do well. He's played with Alan Judge and Cillian Sheridan in the Republic of Ireland under-21 side, and they've waxed lyrical about him.
"Our scouts have also given us some very good reports, so he's a welcome addition."
