Pilgrims eye Anderson deal

03 Jun 2008 - 15:17:10

Plymouth Argyle manager Paul Sturrock remains keen to sign Russell Anderson on a permanent basis.

The Sunderland defender spent three months of the campaign just ended on loan at Home Park and impressed during his time with the Pilgrims.

However, Sturrock insists he is not interested in signing former Leicester City defender Alan Maybury.

"We've stated our interest in Anderson and have left things for the time being with his club and his agent," he said. "Hopefully, a decision will be forthcoming soon, one way or the other.

"It's often difficult to get a speedy response to your requests at this time of the year with players and agents away on holiday.

"Anderson is definitely a player I'm interested in, but he's just one of several irons I have in the fire at the moment.

"But while I've lots of interest in lots of players at this moment in time, I don't have any in Alan Maybury. Hopefully, this will bring an end to any link between this football club and Alan Maybury."
